First time flying international from Stockholm Bromma airport. Brussels Airlines usually has some very cheap tickets around Europe if booked some time in advance. What’s better than a February excursion to Lisbon for sub-1000 SEK per person for an extended weekend?
First stop: one night in Brussels!
It didn’t take long until I struck gold; the Delirium Village!
This was booked as an error fare OSL-ARN-PEK-BKK and return with Air China in Business ® Class for some 5500 SEK (EUR 550).
The flight OSL-ARN was the day before, no photos.
Check in at ARN.
The fare worked! I was a bit nervous until I was handed my boarding passes for the long haul flight. OSL-ARN was operated by SAS and I didn’t know for sure I’d go to BKK (or well, I might have gotten stuck stuck in PEK due to the error fare… who knows?
All packed up and ready to go!
ARN-CPH, of course, features a nice bottle of Ringi apple juice.
A meal at Steff’s was quickly devoured. In fact, so quickly I forgot to take a photo.
Upon trying to board the plane, the scanner said “BAD SCAN” and a “SEAT CHANGE” message was displayed on the gate staff’s screen.
Early bird to Zurich!
First a quick stop at the SAS Gold lounge at ARN for some breakfast.
I’ll be your wingman today.
I love that SAS sticks to its’ Scandinavian roots and serves norwegian Gin.
After arrival at ZRH, a quick run through the passport control, describing my errands (visiting a lounge) and receiving an eyeroll from the officer, and one train ride to E-gates later, I finally arrived at the amazing *G E-gates lounge, featuring a….
Oktoberfest! All packed and ready to leave Sweden. Lunch at the AMEX Platinum lounge at Stockholm Arlanda. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to find wine easily when in Munich, so I had to have one on the flight on the way down. (Un)expected Currywurst. Finally!
Checked in and good to go! This time westbound, to the Windy City!
My home for the coming 9 hours.
Starter. Carpaccio a la SAS.
Fish, potatoes and a messy tablecloth.
Gute Glass raspberry sorbet and a rhubarb pie. Very tasty.
Just like any other day of the Stockholm Spring, it’s a good day for travel!
Today I rode the airport coaches as I had loads of time, and it’s a great way of getting to the airport for 99 SEK.
Checked in and good to go, perfect for some rehydration at my second home, the SAS Gold lounge at ARN.
Celebrations were in place at Stockholm Arlanda airport. Finally, I was leaving the country.
A short, 52 minute flight to CPH later, I was ready to board the A340-300 taking me to Beijing.
The view from seat 2H.
A very nice shrimp sandwich as a starter.
Checked in and good to go!
Clock already set to Hong Kong time, maybe it’ll help my jetlag?
Row 30 on SAS longhaul has amazing legroom.
As an EuroBonus Diamond member, drinks are free of charge in economy with SAS.
A lot of people want to fly to Hong Kong today.
Today’s bird is LN-RKU!
Bye for now, Sweden!
“SAS Chicken Spinach” accompanied with a Mikkeller Plane Ale. I am not very good at taking photos of food.
And a Gin & Tonic as dessert.
Checked in and good to go!
One of the 4 intercontinental flights this afternoon.
Row 41 in economy, “Ghetto Business”.
The Plane Ale from Mikkeller is very nice.
Twelve months later, nothing’s changed.
LN-RKR will take us to HKG today!
It’s the new “A330E” for SAS, where the “E” stands for “Enhanced” or “EEEEEEEEeee, I am still not a NEO so listen to my loud engines”!
Row 41 has some very good legroom.
Pushback on time!
Two different Mikkeller beers, specially brewed for SAS.
